German chocolate cake

German chocolate cake German chocolate cake is a common holiday dessert. It is normally a 2-3 layered style semi-chocolately cake, topped with a coconut-pecan icing or frosting. German chocolate cake is fairly easy to make. I normally make this cake as I would any other cake. Simply heat oven to the appropriate temp, dump in the ingredients (as listed), mix, bake for 35-40 mins, let cool, and then ice it – !enjoyGerman chocolate cake Ingredients: Butter for greasing pans (I used 2 baking pans) – 3 1/2 of baker’s chocolate or cocoa powder – 1/2 cup water – 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour or 2 1/2 cups cake flour – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1 teaspoon salt – 2 cups granulated sugar – 1 cup butter unsalted (2 sticks), room temperature – 3 large eggs – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (any brand will do) – 1 cup buttermilk
